This
composition is very well balanced in that the dark tones of where the trees and
any other objects which must have been nearby but not in the scene cast shadows
onto the grass and of course between the trees within the scene as well. The
way the artists has made their marks (in a curved fashion) has really helps to
get the feel of realism on depth within the scene as they have captured the
essence of the rolling hills winding down as the viewers eyes would work their
way into the background. This also leads on to that there could be an implied
line throughout the drawing.
This line beginning from around the area in front
or the main tree in the foreground, which would then curve around to the left
to the accompanying trees and then across to the right where the hill gradually
rolls down and then back up to the base of the primary tree. This also could
help strengthen the point that that primary tree could be the focal point of
the image, which could be possibly because of it being one of the few objects
within the scene and tonally being the darkest which makes it stand out
compared to everything else there.
