Semester 2 : Colour in Landscapes

Here the artist has worked in colour in spring by using coloured materials on non-architectural landscapes. Firstly the artist has used more green orientated hues in their work which show the colours overall temperature of possibly being in the early morning towards mid day; this was a wise choice as they go well together and so the artist didn’t really seem to mix them together but instead used a limited colour palette of in the colours that match the areas of hues.
All of this makes it full of enough varied strong colours but not having too many which could derive from the drawings themselves. In the first image the artist had also used a coloured paper as their backdrop which also matches the theme of the colours used. And a good sense of tonal values within the piece, such as in the water there are highlights of the suns reflection and also the dark reflection of the underneath of the boat.
However in the second image there isn’t too many tonal values but although, there it seems the artist has built the piece up in layers separating multiple of the objects between the back and foreground which show the amount of depth within the scene.
