Semester 2 : Colour in Landscapes

Here the artist has worked in colour in spring by using coloured materials on non-architectural landscapes. Firstly the artist has used more green orientated hues in their work which show the colours overall temperature of possibly being in the early morning towards mid day; this was a wise choice as they go well together and so the artist didn’t really seem to mix them together but instead used a limited colour palette of in the colours that match the areas of hues.
All of this makes it full of enough varied strong colours but not having too many which could derive from the drawings themselves. In the first image the artist had also used a coloured paper as their backdrop which also matches the theme of the colours used. And a good sense of tonal values within the piece, such as in the water there are highlights of the suns reflection and also the dark reflection of the underneath of the boat.
However in the second image there isn’t too many tonal values but although, there it seems the artist has built the piece up in layers separating multiple of the objects between the back and foreground which show the amount of depth within the scene.

Semester 2 : Contemporary architecture

Here the artist has very clearly gone a more simplistic approach to drawing using a different material. And even though overall this piece is very simplistic, there is still a large amount of subtle details such as the amount of light and shadow that has been implemented into this piece.
The artist has used slightly different shades of here material in layers to apply the sense of depth via the shadows in the scene in various places such as the doorway to the left, on the bottom of the railing and in cubed objects in the bottom right. It also contrasts really well with the overall intensity of the brightness in the scene. Another subtle detail that also adds to the realism is in the glass railing on the walkway.
The artist has managed to display the reflection of the floor in the glass. They have also used a lot of lines to help strengthen the differences of tone within all of the surfaces within the scene to help all of them and the objects stand out from one another. There could also be an implied line following the architectural curve that flows from the right to the left of the drawing.

Semester 2 : Classical Interiors

Here we can see the artist has drawn some more classical interior architecture, and in this first drawing the artist has gone for more of an impressionistic approaches rather that adding an excess of detail. And even in this impressionism there is a mixed variety of mark making used between the shading done on the surfaces and the hard lines used to capture some details on the pillars in the bottom right.
These pillars could most likely be the focal point of the image due to the artist adding most detail here because of the level of detail decreasing as the viewers eye draws away from these objects. In the second image it is obvious that the artist has changed the material used but has retained the same impressionistic fell but here it is not as strong as there is more detail throughout the entirety of the scene.
However the impressionistic feel comes from the mark making used. There artist has used lots of strong rough lines and a mix of shading to add to the realism of the scene as it created varied tonal values thus also creating a sense of the objects being the in the third dimension giving and overall depth to the piece.
